“The making of an album is a beautiful process that most people don’t get to experience,” said j.viewz. “The DNA Project was born out of a desire to connect with my fans in this deeply personal experience, and explore the different parts that make up the mosaic of an album. There are so many dimensions to an album beyond the final product, and I’m excited for my fans and supporters to trailblaze this new path with me.”
j.viewz is embarking on the artistic journey with award-winning digital agency Hello Monday. Together they will work toward redefining the way music is created in the digital space. The DNA Project will be hosted online and presented in a timeline that showcases each song on j.viewz’s new album as a strand of DNA containing sounds, videos and images that make up the songs. Fans will be able to track the creative process for each song in real time, from inspiring moments on the road to new sounds from the studio to meetings with labels.
As the album nears completion, fans can trace every finished song backward, starting from the completed piece and slowly stripping off the layers and unfolding the elements and personal stories that were a part of j.viewz’s creative journey. This unique breakdown of the songs will allow fans to not only access the pieces that make up the songs, but in certain instances download the individual components and use them in their own art. Backers of The DNA Project will also be able to help shape j.viewz’s album-making experience by submitting their own art, which may be used by j.viewz for the album.
“The DNA Project is a huge leap forward in the evolution of the artist-fan relationship,” added j.viewz. “Similar to the way technology revolutionized how we make and release music, I want to change how the artist and the audience communicate with each other. With The DNA Project, my goal is to shine a light on the artistic process and demonstrate that it is as important and fascinating as the final product.”
j.viewz is widely celebrated in the music industry for bridging music and technology to close the gap between artists and fans. His most recent album, “rivers and homes,” allowed fans to pre-order the album and access each completed track in real time, providing an exclusive look into the artistic evolution of an album.
