The Danish TV channel TV 2 ZULU has just launched an innovative, never-before-seen show format that gives a glimpse of what tomorrow’s television experiences might look like. Inspired by the Carlsberg commercial “Poker Room,” Nordisk Film TV approached TV 2 Zulu with a vision of creating a program based on the idea of “putting friends to the ultimate test.” The result is a collaboration between Carlsberg, TV 2 ZULU, and Nordisk Film TV called Zulu BFF – Best Friends Forever, a show that redefines the meaning of true friendship.
The show launched together with an interactive digital extension, the BFF app. Users – via their smartphone or tablet – download the app to add an extra dimension to the viewing experience. The app automatically syncs to the live TV action to reveal behind the scenes footage, separate content tracks, and games to play against friends.
The special thing about this second screen experience is that it encourages viewers to meet up for ‘real-life’ socializing with their friends. Viewers sitting and watching the program together in the same room can see different content on each other’s screens. More friends, more footage, more fun.
