Denmark’s marine ecosystem is in dire straits, suffocating under the weight of toxic waste and agricultural runoff. This once vibrant sea has become one of the most lifeless in the world. In response to this urgent situation, a coalition including &Co. / NoA, Greenpeace, a Christian clergyman, and the Danish Sport Fishing Association has taken a bold step: they’ve organized a funeral for Vejle Fjord.
The objective of this initiative is clear: to draw attention to the crisis and catalyze political action to revive the marine life. In a poignant symbol, a portion of Denmark’s sea was laid to rest in a transparent glass coffin, inviting both citizens and politicians to confront the depths of the issue.
On Saturday, over a thousand “mourners” gathered in Vejle, western Denmark, to pay their respects to the fjord. The event was broadcast live by the nation’s two largest TV networks, ensuring that the entire country bore witness to this solemn occasion.
