There isn’t a formal press release for the Hermès — PAIN installation by the creative studio Uncommon; instead, the event was described in social media posts and articles, which stated that the installation was a rigged claw machine containing an unattainable Hermès Birkin bag. Held in New York’s SoHo neighborhood from September 13–14, “PAIN” served as a commentary on New York’s “hustle culture,” symbolizing the elusive nature of success and ambition in the city. Visitors could purchase limited-edition merchandise, such as t-shirts and tote bags, as consolation prizes.
